A NEW luxury accommodation complex for visitors to Chester is set to open near the City centre in the New Year.
The £5 million aparthotel, which will be situated on the old DVLA offices site on lower Watergate Street, began construction in July, and will open its doors to the public in March, 2015.
It will be the newest addition to the Roomzzz aparthotel portfolio and will consist of 63 luxury apartments overlooking Chester’s Racecourse, along with a penthouse suite with accompanying rooftop terrace.
Mark Walton, Head of Roomzzz Aparthotel UK, said: “We have had an impressive response to Chester with an overwhelming positive response from new and existing customers of Roomzzz looking to ‘city hop’ and to include Chester in their trips.”
“We have taken every precaution to ensure that the conversion of the existing building is sympathetic to the surrounding area and will compliment existing buildings and structures nearby.” He Added.
The apartments will consist of a kitchen, bedroom and living and dining area and are priced at £89 a night and above.
Mr Walton said: “The aparthotel model is not the same as a hotel. Roomzzz guests are typically professionals and international guests looking for a longer term stay than a hotel can reasonably offer.”
Roomzzz have developed a reputation for successful conversions of existing buildings into aparthotels, opening successful branches in Manchester, and more recently, Newcastle.
The company who brand their apartments as a ‘home from home’ or ‘office to office’ hope to attract travelling businessmen and women, although the rooms are also available to the general public.
According to Mr Walton, The Roomzzz pricing structure and loyalty scheme actively encourages longer term stays, especially for overseas visitors.
According to a statement given to us by the company, a high percentage of Roomzzz guests are American and Japanese, spending considerable amounts of time within one area, which could also benefit Chester’s tourism income.
