IT’S nearly that time of year again to spread some festive cheer and support Save the Children’s annual Christmas Jumper Day.
This year taking place on Friday 12th December and in its third year running the charity have been asking even more people across the UK to help ‘make the world better with a sweater’.
George at Asda are this year’s official retail partner aiming to raise over £750,000 with a range of Save the Children jumpers in store for men, women and children.
Prices range from £7 to £14 and raise funds for Save the Children’s vital work in the UK supporting some of the most disadvantaged children.
The good will doesn’t stop there as Asda said they will be fundraising across their stores starting with bucket collections hoping to give thousands of children a good start in life and the chance to fulfil their potential.
Chester’s Save the Children spokesperson said: “So far we’ve raised just over £25,000 which is a fantastic amount and we would like to thank everyone who has contributed.”
Other partners also on board to support this year’s Christmas Jumper Day campaign include Costa who has been selling limited edition children’s books.
Costa Spokesperson said: “In our launch weekend we sold in excess of 5000 books raising just under £6,000 for Save the Children. We look forward to continue this success throughout December.”
The books are available across Costa’s UK stores and available throughout December to help raise funds for the charity.
Tanya Steele, Executive Director for Save the Children, said: “This year will be our biggest Christmas Jumper Day yet. We had over a million people take part last year and we want to see even more jumpers being worn this year. As with every campaign, partners play a huge role and we are thrilled that George at Asda is our official retail partner. They have produced an amazing jumper range and stores across the UK will help us reach a huge audience and raise vital funds.”
Also this year, all Christmas Jumper Day donations will be doubled by the UK government by matching every pound donated to Save the Children between 1 October and 31 December.
